SAM3 is excellent. It's easy to work with, the automation works perfectly and it has built in AGC (or you can use Sound Solution for example). It sounded perfect on my radio tx. Really professional sound. I vote for this soft after trying it and others.

I have been using an older Beta copy of Deltrax, which I like because it does what I want it to. I would like to try Sam out, but here is what I require in an automation program:

-Ability to set sec tones for next event on all tracks and imaging and control the fade slop on idvidual tracks, not just a general ALL tracks (I have alot of overlap on my dry sweepers)
-Ability to control rotations (I have about 10 catagories that I need complete control over when they run in an hour)
-Ability to drop elements over running automation (for live shows so I can drop sfx, imaging and elements)
-Ability to runmanually
-Optional ability to fire next element from the console (I have a console I rebuilt from a station in Seattle)
-Optional ability to run dual (or more sound cards)

there is a free program for winamp that has a compressor, limiter, and expander all built in with presettings. Sounds just as punchy and loud as commercial stations. Even has preemphasis.

If you prefer to use free software, I think ZaraRadio is a perfect choice.
Try it at http://www.zararadio.com
Also download any free DSP plugins from http://www.winamp.com, such as limiter/ compressor to enrich your audio.

I believe I have tried everything out there. This one isn't cheap, but it does offer a trial period. Hands down. This is the best!

WinAMP Audio Processing

I have had good results with Stereo Tool v1.12 (by Hans Van Zutphen), downloadable from WinAMP's list of plugins. The multiband compressor works fair with the default settings, and works very well after tweaking the attacks and decays, especially for the middle 4 frequency ranges. It's nice to have percussion remain unaffected when a lead guitar or vocal blasts through.

I was also able to set a more rigid limit and fast decay for the high frequencies so that a blast of treble doesn't smack the stereo pilot in the head. I still have rich treble because I didn't have to slide the highs in the WinAMP EQ all the way down, like I did without the limiter.

I have not tried SAM3 yet. That's next on my "free time" list!

Please take a look at OTSDJ.com

I've been using Otsdj live & automated on the air. It is awesome, professional, but expensive. I purchased it for mobile DJ'ing, and then came along the Cybermax. It really is hands free when needed.

Hi There,

I have just tried most of your suggestions this weekend. My problem is I want to record a show/1 day progeamme on mp3 to put on a memory card and play out remotely.
I want the software to Automate a playlist

The two best one's so far that have mix quality and compressor/limiter plug-ins are OTS and Jazler Radio.

OTS lets you record to Wav but the file is to big then I would have to convert to mp3

Jazler Radio doesnt have a record option but is good qualiy

Sam Party DJ doesnt have a record option

I have a programe called virtual DJ from Atomic mix that records various bit rates but no automation that I can see.

Does any one know if Sam 3 has a record option maybe (stream to a file)

cheers
Tarquin

otdj is winning at the moment, I have just tried a disco version called Ots turntables, even this had autoplay with blindingly good mix and a graphic eq and compressor with presets. I also tried PCDJ red and fx pro it had what I wanted but the mix was awfull. It seemed to put dead space at the beginning and end of the tracks of up to 4 seconds.

I must say im a mac man when it comes to computers, have been since the good ol days of system 7  H
At the moment im using a program called MegaSeg, Very Nice features and looks good too.
For the actual Mixing, its Traktor Dj Studio 3 and Stanton Final Scratch 2.
BluePhone Elite to display the txt messages on screen and for automated voting, Skype for Voice Calls and 3way discussions all running on a PowerMac G5 Quad 2.5ghz with 6gb RAM and 3x17" iiyama Lcd Panels using extended desktop.
Then a Dual 1.25ghz PowerMac G4 running AudioHijack Pro for Audio Processing, Multiband compression, some Fidelity enhancement since its almost all Mp3 format and a little Stereo enhancement.
Its taken years to get this setup together, The next step will be CCTV for the transmitter site and studio, all via WiFi so we can keep 1 step ahead of those other langers if they wanna come get some!
