I just recently purchased a PCI Max 2006+ RDS, but for some reason it's not working correctly.

Now heres my setup:

Broadcast Computer => Media PC (card in this one)
^ connected with headphone type cord ^

Antenna is connected

software is giving me some troubles, but i've read over
the other posts on this forum and I'm seeing alot of people
with this model are having trouble getting the drivers installed.

I've tried all the drivers available for download, nothing works but
the PCI Max 2004 driver.

Please help me figure this out before I loose my mind :o

Well, if 2004 works use it :)

I have to tell you since you bought this used (probably from ebay?)
it might be broken, what did the seller tell you?

seller was "xxx".

It was not used, it was still sealed.

2004 makes the card recognized, but it will not produce a signal.

My card came packaged in a electro-safe bag.

Below is the version I have, I'm assuming it's the correct
one because it says '06 on it.

I just noticed that there are jumpers on the card, are they supposed to be removed in order for it to work?

i really need this card working ASAP. Can someone please help me?

Leave the jumpers as they are.

By the way, 2006+ model was picky regarding motherboard/chipset so
you may want to try in another pc.

Mind you, model 2006+ was sold 3 years ago and is long obsolete.

I too recently purchased the PCI Max 2006+. The software that came with it didn't work. It kept freezing up. I read one of the posts and they had uninstalled the 2006 software and installed the software for the 2005 model. I did the same thing and it's working now, but recognizes the card as the 2005 and the channel selection box is the 2005 also. I'd like to be able to use the software for the 2006 model but I guess until I find some that works I'm satisfied with using the 2005 software. I don't know what the "area coverage", "country code", and "program reference" options mean or how to set them. I've left them on the options that were already there when I installed the software but need to know what these mean. I've emailed support but haven't gotten a reply yet. Can someone help me please?! Thanks

Those options are only for RDS. I am pretty sure neither of you two has RDS daughter board
so basically you can use any version from 2004 to 2007.

The only thing that might not work perfectly is stereo selection switch.

Mono and stereo might be reversed with some drivers. This is just a minor
cosmetic issue.

If you two decide to upgrade to 2007+ I will be glad to give you some special rebate.

How much of a rebate? I don't understand why the software for 2006 doesn't work like it should. I know it's "obsolete", but the software from previous versions seem to work fine, so why not the software that was designed for the 2006 version? It would seem that we might be missing out on some of the upgrade benefits that the 2006 had over the previous versions Thanks

The driver version does not affect sound quality or quality of anything else.

It just tells to the card:

- activate stereo/mono
- set power to this or that level
- set frequency
- power on/off

that's pretty much it since you don't have rds anyway

So you are not missing on anything by using driver 2007, 2004 or 2006.

i understand that, my problem is the fact that it's not producing a signal at all, not even a faint one.

Is there silence on the chosen frequency on the radio?

I doubled the length of the little wire antenna that it comes with and can broadcast approximately 2/10 of a mile or two city blocks. I'm satisfied with that distance but am curious as to what other type of antenna I could use to get a little better distance without having to order one? I have no experience or knowledge regarding transmitters or antenna types.

Twiceshy, your card is working, lol i'm trying to do the same for my, your killin me here.

Best antenna i've found is a COMET, you need to place it as high as possible though.
