Mono gives best range, of course.

Stereo signal requires more power as it occupies wider
spectrum.
Check the specs for any radio receiver, you'll see it requires more
voltage in the receiving antenna for stereo than mono.

Don't think so, far away it may not work (display station name),
but audio will not be affected.
