On the MaxPro1 pcb, there is a tinned metal strip surrounding an small square area on the far corner of the board. There is a brief reference to this is the manual as the VCO area?
What are the benefits of shielding this area off and why?
Does it stop rf getting in? or out? or keep the temperature more stable?
Is it worth doing?

I appologise for all the MaxPro1 related questions from me lately, but i'm a fuss-pot when it comes to making everything perfect and doing things right!

It might be of benefit if you have a strong RF amp in the same box.

Or if you have terrible SWR and rf energy is reflected back to the
transmitter and finds way to the VCO, where it could manifest
as brum.

I'd say you do not need to do this.

With the new MAX PRO 3 and 4 there is no benefit at all, even in above
situations they perform excellent, especially the MAX PRO 3, which has
been designed to be exceptionally robust.
