I just revived my old PCIMAX card that I used to use in a pentium III machine. I have never been happy with the noise it put out and now its the same in my athlon 1Ghz machine

I know theres a power supply fix (where you cut the power trace on the pcimax card and feed the card with a clean power supply).

My question is
1) Has the main noise issue been found to be just noise from the pc power supply?
2) Has anyone tried to use bypass capaciters or any filtering instead of the clipping and sourcing power with a different supply solution?
3) Would building a metal shield around the card help? Has anyone attempted this?
4) Has anyone posted pictures of the supply noise on an oscilliscope anywhere?

If these questions have been addressed someplace in this forum please just direct me to the thread(s)

The noise I get isn't from the power supply on my transmitter. It's from the processor. I think the newest version fixes some of those problems though.

Thats what I'm afraid of....I know the 802.11g PCI board I purchasd had its electronics completely enclosed in a metal case (built onto the pci card). Wonder if I could retrofit something.
I also hear it in the transmission when I move the mouse???

Honestlly, I wish I had bought a stand alone transmitter. The PCIMAX2005 with the external option looks like a great way to go.

Yeah, when I move the mouse I hear a jittering noise. It's not loud enough to hear when music is playing though. The processor noise isn't my main concern (I'm still waiting for the 2005 with RDS, so I'll see how well that does) it's the "ringing" I get due to bass in the music. BTW, there's some trade-in deal with older units, ask Marko about it.

Yep, its mostly power supply.

Things like CD rom really make a lot of noise,
and the cpu, HD etc.

Another thing is ground loops due to different grounds
in a system (sound card, pci max).

These things have been addressed with an on-board DC/DC
converter and balanced audio inputs in latest version of
PCI MAX 2005. Additionally, the latest model has an on-board
power jack for even better noise rejection since the card is than
entirely powered externally.

It can also be used without the PC by utilizing our LED display
board. PCI MAX 2005 with the small LED board can form a nice
stand-alone stereo transmitter.

Additional improvements are limiter (eliminates most of audio
problems) and other improvements in audio chain, making PCI MAX 2005
a huge improvement over 2004 and earlier models.
