I do get the following message from the software.

Access violation at address 004696FF in module ‘PCIMAXRDS.exe’. Read of address 00000070.

Mean anything?

BTW I ALSO have a third PCI slot that was occupied by an unused modem. Pulled modem and tried that slot, still no luck.

Computer...T2245 emachines PC, circa 2003.

Is there anything else to try?

Or is my unit DOA?

Your computer should detect a new hardware.
Did that happen? If that never happened, you
need to move card to another slot. That's how it goes.

I tried all three slots on the PC.

I downloaded and configured the software.

Success!!! I found the problem.

When I was tightening the screw on card I was pulling the opposite end of the card out. I later loosened the screw, seated the card and put a washer under the card's bracket. The computer found the device and I'm up and running.

Mechanical tolerances...

I made sure the power level was up and I putting out an excellent signal. Will do a range check.

Does that card limit modulation?

A typical PC case is a disaster, a few millimeters up or down
are nothing unusual.
I had a graphics card that did not work because the card went
in too deep into the socket. Once I pulled it out just a bit it
started working. Same problem > case tolerances.

Have fun with the card and let us know how your audio sounds.

The card does limit audio.

Audio sounds great.

Have to turn down my computers volume to under half to get good fidelity.

I can see the light on my stereo get toggled on/off, checks out.

Range, I got the power turned up and just the included antenna wire hanging down to the floor. I'm in a walk out basement but still get out an easy 1/4 mile on my car radio. Must be putting out 350 mw.

Maybe I'll build that J-Pole for 87.9 mhz... :)

i have the same problems.

there are NO drivers or setup programs at the cd rom.

I have installed the card in my windows xp computer it says that it has found a new network controller. i put the cd rom in the discdrive but then it cant find any drivers.

i have downloaded the setup voor pci max 2005 but it dont work.

Then i tryed in my old pentium 1 windows 98 pc it says: new hardware found: network controller. then i choose to search the cd for drivers and it says just like in xp that there a no drivers on the cd!

So please give me a answer here + a working download link for the pci max 2006 setup program ( it didn't work at the software page)

Others.. i send it back to you and want my money back! [-X

Use 2004 driver from the support/download for now.

It works just fine here.

Actually there's a 2005 driver that works just fine.

BTW...Wasn't the 2006 driver supposed to be up today?

Yes, yes, I know. Remember, this is December.
Just today I spent 80% of the time signing cards :)

I hope to have it nailed this weekend. If not, just use
2004 or 2005 for the time being.

I just took that piece of supplied wire that was hanging to the floor and taped it vertical to the wall. The range went up from 1/4 to an easy 1/2 mile. =D>

I can't wait to try the homebrew slim-jim...

the old pci max plus driver on top of the other installs without
previously uninstallilng them. Than I used the new 2005 user interface and it worked.
So you installed what older drivers first and then used the 2005 interface to operate the card?

2006 software, drivers & trimmer

How about posting a pic showing the trimmer. Does one turn the trimmer CW or CCW to increase power.

I also received a CD without "setup" or drivers. So Peter is handling software? If so, Peter should find a different day job.

I decided against mounting the trimmer at the end. There is space
for it on the board, should someone want to limit the maximum power.

Right now its just opened full. Of course you can set power
via windows interface to less than full.

Thanks for your immediate reply. Already using the software interface to adjust power. Nice to know that the missing trimmer was not a figment of my imagination. You may want to consider changing the product discription accordingly. You may not believe this, but lots of people read those product descriptions and manuals. No reply to this response is necessary.

Works great !!

Hi, today 26.12.2005 postal services were working in Belgium. I received your package (PCI Max 2006+, 1 Watt). After 5 minutes I had ad perfect sound broadcasted approx. 1,5 kilometers in full stereo with only the little wire ! The future looks bright, distance will surely increase with a good antenna.
Thanks for your quick and correct service.

So tell me how much of an improvement is their on the 2006 version of the PCI Max? Because I intend splasing out on it knowing theirs an increase in range.

I don't think there's really a difference with power so much. It just has better and clearer audio.

I am thinking about getting the PCI card for my computer. I also have sam v2 broadcast on my pc. I broadcast to the internet and i get around 20 listeners average. I want to go on fm with good quality and get about 2-3 miles with it. I live in Connecticut so the FCC can be on my a$$. I found a frequency of 87.9 nobody is on it so i should be fine. I want to know the max power and how far people have gotten with there pci max. Thanks for your help.
