OK--forgive this stupid question, but it can be used without having the PC on, right? I'm assuming the USB is just to set frequency and other settings, but once set it's autonomous, right?

You're probably right--tho i'm not clear on how to make the new cards external. I've decided that would actually be easier than the internal card.

Also, what was the power output of the 2004/2005? Since there are options now i want to make sure i get enough (but suspect 100 would be enough ...

Dead 2004?

Hi all,
I think my card is finally dead, but i want to make sure. I have an oldie--i believe it's a 2004, and has worked fine for years. However, it doesn't seem to be recognized by the Device Mgr anymore (XP).

I seem to recall this being an issue at certain points, but could have sworn it was ...

I never got the chance to look at my power management settings but I must do because I won't like having to restart just to go on air.

Me neither! Can't imagine what they want you to check in power management or options--all that's there are the options for how and when you want the PC to go ...

That's just if you have to upgrade/revert the drivers. I've had other programs that keep the device installed after their own uninstaller. Just an additional step to make sure the drivers that weren't working get completely removed.

I've been doing that, but still having trouble getting the Dev ...

Why is that? Do you mean so that it won't even be represented in the Device Manager?

I have that problem too!

I was able to resolve it without having to move the card: in fact, all i've had to do was go to the Win Device Mgr, Disable, and then Enable the card. Then it came right back.

If you've moved the card, i would think that would have done it! You reinstalled the drivers, too ...

Ok, than use one of the programs such as MBL-4 or winamp
plugin rocksteady.

There shouldn't be any material around 19KHz or it will
interfere with stereo pilot.

You're probably running your audio a bit too loud.

Could be, but turning the volume down a bit doesn't help until it's very low ...

Well, i tried that, but to no avail: certain tracks still cut out, while others are fine--even others that seem more...shall i say, sonically intense :)

any other ideas?

Thanks for the tip, but i've got some questions (being pretty dumb about equalizers! :-))

I use a playback software called Media Center, and it has an eq like winamp, but i'm pretty sure that if i even have it turned on, it's probably flat. However, i'll check (not at home right now).

Otherwise ...

Stereo signal problems

Hi there,

I recently got my PCS MAX card set up and working great, but lately i've noticed something odd: during playback of some tracks, the stereo signal cuts on and off. When playback is stopped or paused, the signal is steady and unchanged.

i've tried adjusting the power level and volume ...

Windows "Stand-by" mode

My PCIMAX card doesn't recover from 'stand-by' well--i have to go to device manager and disable/enable it to use again. Is there any way to prevent that?

thanks,

It does seem to, but it doesn't seem to improve my reception that well. Guess that's why huh? :D

I thought i read about doing that somewhere here, but perhaps not. I was just looking for a frugal way to help make it easier to get reception a little further away....which leads me back to my output ...

Correct--is that not good?

It seemed to work fine by itself, tho. It's only with the extension that there seems to be a problem.

newbie questions again: output, antenna

Hi there,

Still just wondering if someone can explain adjusting the output power on my PCIMAX. That is, when i adjust the slider i don't perceive any difference at all. Shouldn't i be able to hear some difference?

Also, i bought a simple pair of rabbit ears to improve reception a bit, but the ...

general questions: model, software, and output power

Hi there,

I just received my PCI MAX card--thanks!!

In general it worked great with little effort. I'm just trying to get simple reception within my small (1200 sqft) house and yard, and it seems to have done that even with the simple antenna, so that's great.

My questions are around the version ...
