Hello, I was wondering if the PCI MAX external enclosure (shown here:

comes with the Miniature LCD display with VU meter, or does it need to be purchased separately?

That fix works 100%. I performed the fix (without adding the 470uF capacitor) and every frequency I tested is clean.

I also have not seen any ill side effects...
-Power output remains unchanged
-Audio quality is ...

AnotherBrian, I have found that 91.7 and 93.9 and pretty clean. 87.9, 97.7 and 104.7 are pretty bad. Those are the only frequencies that I can test in the area, but some are better than others.

I had a 100uF/25v laying around, and it does reduce the tone, but it does not get rid of it. I will try a 470uF when I get a chance to go out.

Ha, just my luck, to get the one that starts a chain reaction forcing a new problem to be solved. Good to hear that there is an easy fix though. I might venture out tomorrow (but I doubt it due to a major snow storm in the area) to pick one of those up from Radio Shack.

So I tried taking the unit (outside of a PC) about 20 miles away from the house, and ran it directly off of a car battery (not the one in the vehicle) and used a 3rd laptop, using the included antenna outside the vehicle I get the same tone on the vehicle's stereo.
