You have to kinda play with the three buttons(UP, DOWN, MENU) to get the settings you want. They seem to be a bit touchy, and you can actually effect several changes with only one "Press" of the button. Try again a couple of times, and you should be able to get it down to -12dB.
:)

I think that the ...

It certainly works OK(I have tinkered with one, owned by my boss), however, you can only select between two operational modes: Loud or Clarity . While this is very, very simple, and exceedingly easy to setup, there is little other control over how it operates.

This is probably fine for most people ...

Getting the PCI-MAX 2006+ card to work...

Hi there.
:)

I have just got around to re-building my radio-station box, and after three hours of tinkering, have found the method which seems to work very well in getting the 2006+ card to work.

Because quite a few posts seem to indicate difficulty in installing the card, I thought I would ...

PCI MAX 2006+ card - %^@#! awesome!!!

This card is amazing.
:)
I think I am in love.
:P

Had a couple of issues with the 2006+ driver, but PCS helpfully suggested 2004 driver, which works very well indeed.

Sound quality is 98%.
Extremely clean and well processed.
:)
2% difference is because the card seems to ship with default pre ...

USA vs NZ power...

Hiya.
:)

Hey Norm, Last I heard, USA only allowed 50mW of juice!!!
:o
This might have changed since I last heard about it...
Is this still the case, or have the FCC allowed you guys 60mW now!!!

NZ lets you have 300mW, and there is actually talk, that this figure might go up to 500mW, or ...

Hiya!
:-)

O.K.
Valid points.

I was just expressing my joy over the fact that the kit worked and worked well first time. PCS modules do have some issues, but I don't considder them that serious. The PCS modules are clean, and stable, as confirmed on our work freq.spectrum analyzer at work.

They ...

Re: religious stations - we have a few of them here in NZ too, and these are mostly LPFM stations(we're allowed 300mW in NZ on the LPFM licence).
Most run at 3W or so - no licence at all...
CC(NZ version of FCC) know they are there, but because they are God-stations, they ignore them...

Strange, eh ...

Oh!
Fair enough!

I never bothered to modify the PSU - figured it was quicker and easier to start with a linear.

Nice work.

Do not dispair!
:-)

Whenever I ordered my kits(i'm now on my 4th PRO-1 kit!), there was a 3-4 week postage delay - even with air-mail.

If you pay big-bucks for international corrier, then you should have the kit within a week, but this is quite an expensive way to get it.

Please keep us posted ...

I've tried this a couple of times, and I find that the results are not really worth the trouble - you're better off with a simple linear(transformer) based regulated PSU.

Most PC power-supply units can be very noisy, creating heaps of crackle or hum or both on your chosen frequency.

Also, most PC ...

Cannot fault PRO-1 Tx - it ROCKS!!!

Hiya!
:-)

I have finished building the lastest PCS kit, and it
worked first time!
Switched it on, and away she went!
Not that I have come to expect anything different from
PCS!

I replaced the 56-ohm R13 with 100-ohms(1/2W) to lower
the output power to around 1.5W maximum @ 12v (at the
88.x end of ...

Been away for a while, and only just got around to looking back in here.

Can you indicate exactly what it is you want me to do or comment on ...

Here in NZ, one of my clients has just finished submitting a Tx based on the MAX PRO-1 module for technical testing. The unit passed, with excellent results, spurs and harmonics better then -55dB down.

The MAX PRO 1 is pretty much the best low-power Tx I have come across. Run at 2-3 watts, it is EXCEPTIONALLY clean and stable.
You start to lose a little of the purity, if MAX is pushed right up to 5 watts and above, and also, you have to increase the voltage, and this leaves no room for error, but ...

Hello!

Upping the output of the PCI MAX sounds like a great idea, but I would think that going for more then 1W or so, would make the cards uneconomical, and possibly result in not very many sales. Potential buyers are always gonna be attracted by the cheaper price, and unfortunately, RF ...
